Welcome to the UNamur Philippine studies programme

On 19 January 2023, the Rector Annick Castiaux had the pleasure to welcome at the University of Namur the Consul General and Chargé d'Affaires of the Philippine Embassy, Mr. Pablito A. Mendoza and Mrs. Liza Jane V. Estalilla, Attaché of the Philippine Embassy in charge of cultural, gender and development issues.

This visit is part of the “Philippine Studies” programme organised by UNamur under the supervision of Professors Sabine Henry and Isabelle Parmentier and financed by a donation from the Philippine Government. The University of Namur was chosen by the Government of the Philippines, along with seven other universities in the world, to promote different facets of Philippine Studies in Belgium and Europe.

The "Philippine Studies" programme highlights the longstanding collaborations that researchers at the University of Namur have developed with several universities and researchers in the Philippines. It also contributes to the promotion of Philippine studies at international level. The programme, which includes several topics and activities which will take place until June 2023, is also an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration at the academic, cultural, and political levels.

The meeting, which was cordial and fruitful, also enabled an exchange of views on several issues and to discuss future projects.
